The other day in the States it was Thanksgiving, a purely American celebration linked to their history.
In my case, being only with my daughter this year, DH is on a trip and my son is studying in Paris, I decided to make a miniature Thanksgiving meal. 2 little chickens (close to our Cornish Game
Hens) roasted and glazed with a blueberry jam and orange juice, chestnuts with bacon, glazed yams and of course homemade cranberry sauce made with European cranberries ( a smaller variety closer to
redcurrants).
I found these 2 pictures for you :

Poor Big Bird !!!! LOL
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!

I just finished knitting myself the fabulous "Juliet" from Zephyr Style that has been knitted this way or like this by VeroM (scroll down her pages to see the photos) or again on the Sexy
Knitters Club blog where we can see many different interpretations of Zephyr Style models and other designers as well, but ZS are the fad of the moment !!!!
So, your asking yourselves, and what about her floorcloth????? Well, here it is :
(autoportrait)
or here (thanks DH):
OK I made it 3 times too big (even though I followed the instructions for my size bust)... It's nothing
like the girls on the original model ..... Here I really look like a pumpkin (in French Potiron) - a blue one, but pumpkin all the same!!!!!!!!
Note : the yarn I used is Phildar Canasta in Caraïbes, I had a stash of 10 skeins that I had gotten during spring sales, and I had to add 3 more skeins
as I knitted with two strands in order to have the correct gauge. And I used a bamboo circular needle in French size 6.
I ordered myself another model, "Wicked" but now I'm seriously hesitating in doing it.... and "Tree Jacket" is tempting me too, but I didn't even order that one.......
too much of a scaredy cat.....
PS Personal note: Joelle, look, I'm wearing it!!!!!! How about you???
Addenda on November 25th : Since I posted this article, I did buy Tree jacket, and I've started a new Juliet this time for my daughter in size XS and I will try to do long
sleeves on it..... I began last night and am almost finished with the top part....
I do plan to do Wicked and Tree Jacket, I've started shopping around for yarn and doing gauge swatches.... More soon on this habit I've gotten into.....

CHALLENGE FOR LE BURKINA FASO
When I got back from my vacation in the States, I saw this post on
the FRANCE PATCHWORK forum. I arrived too late to be chosen for the "first
line", so I'm in the "second line". That is to say that a person from the "first line" gets the fabric for the challenge, in this case beautiful true Indian Cashmere, creates her top - it must
measure 1m x 1m max (roughly a square yard)- and then sends it to the person in "second line" to whom she has been buddied up with.
Considering that it takes time to create a top, and that the packages of fabric were sent at the end of september, I didn't think about it much even though I had received some little
swatches.....
I can assure you that I was totally intrigued this morning when I discovered the package, I had no idea who this person who had written me was - I had blanked out my buddy's name - and I was
wondering who could have sent me a package.... And what a surprise it was for me when this morning, I found this :

I first took everything out and put them randomly on the table to have an idea of the whole.....

Then I sorted them :

Aren't they beautiful ???
I'm happy because these days I've been in a creative slump, really, since I got back from our vacation, I've practically not done anything with my 10 fingers if not these 3 cups for some friends
:

and this necklace :

I think this new project is going to give me that little kick I need to finally get to work!!!!!
What is good, is that I have time, and I'm going to need it because I'm pretty slow when it comes down to it!!!!!
Speak to you soon for the next installment of my adventures with this challenge !!!!!!!
While visiting MTSA's blog, I learned that it was "La
Foire aux Potirons" (i.e. Pumpkin Celebration) (Note : Potiron, my pseudonym in French means pumpkin). It is happening HERE.
But since it's a bit far from where I live, I still wanted to go see pumpkins. So, this afternoon I went to one of those places where you can go pick apples, pears, all kinds of vegetables and
fruit, and flowers, there is one near my house; and this is what I found :
Already as we arrived this was waiting for us :

My favorite, potimarrons (I don't know what they are called in English, but their meat is dense and tastes a bit like chestnuts), I find them real tasty
:

There were also some coloquinths (spelling???) :

Met a little friend :

Saw some other varieties :

Finally I brought these home :

BYE!!!!
